FUTURE ME Is Coming in Late 2026....

FUTURE ME is a planned 7-book series following Lu and her friends from middle through high school at the high-tech Prescott Academy. As they navigate larger-than-life mysteries and dangers, they’ll also face something just as complicated: growing up in a world where the stakes are real — and the answers aren’t always clear.

Meet the Team

Luana Jacobs (11) – Smart, tough, full of wry amusement… and more than a little bit lost and broken following the unexpected death of her grandma less than a year ago. In losing Gran she not only lost the one person who both got and shared her love of math, but also her understanding of how the universe is supposed to work, and she’s struggling to process her feelings about that. Despite her internal turmoil, Lu has a natural charisma that draws people to her and an ability to stay calm under pressure. Unfortunately, she tends to think her way is best, and at times can treat others like pieces in her personal game of chess.

Jasper (Sci) Prescott (12) – You’d think growing up the son of a tech mogul quadrillionaire would come with lots of perks (and it definitely does), but Sci would trade all of his tech gadgets and his autonomous SUV for a dad who doesn’t seem like he’d rather be anywhere else — and often is. Sci’s incredible talent as an engineer is rivaled only by his big heart and his desire for everyone to get along.

Kali (12) – Raised in a survivalist community in Ohio, where she was taught how to hunt, shoot, make traps, and generally live in nature, Kali is by far the most athletically gifted of the group. Her physical prowess often leads her to downplay her smarts, but you don’t get into Prescott Academy unless you’re the best of the best. Kali’s aunt took her in and supported her after Kali identified as a girl and her parents disowned her, so she has a deep understanding of complicated family situations, and an unquestioning willingness to fight for the people she cares about.

Wiki (11) – With an abusive, addict father and a mother suffering from depression, Wiki has had to make some hard decisions in order to protect his two younger siblings, and he’s harboring a huge secret. Despite this — or perhaps because of it — he comes across as someone ruled by rationality and logic… at least on the surface. Smart and tenacious, his photographic memory allows him to regularly quote facts, figures, and random bits of knowledge to make his point or just, you know, because.

Ghost (8) – The literal genius of the group, Ghost was smartest person in her family by age 3 and has spent the last few years making a name for herself as a world class hacker. If it’s something to do with computers, she’s your girl, and she has plans to become the world’s first female quadrillionaire. Unfortunately, her young age means that her parents won’t let her hang out with her friends outside of school, so Ghost is often “with them” via video screen. Frequently annoyed that others aren’t able to keep up with her smarts, while simultaneously feeling a need to prove she belongs with the “big kids,” Ghost constantly challenges Lu’s leadership.

Old Lu (Luana) – Though she never gives her age, Lu’s older self is about Lu’s mom’s age, and it’s clear she’s been through some rough times living in the war-torn landscape of the future, where MOTHER has eliminated most of humanity. When they first meet, Luana makes it clear to Lu that her philosophy on feelings is to push away the ones that aren’t useful and find yourself a mission to focus on. Anything else is just a waste of time. Unfortunately, it becomes painfully clear that not dealing with uncomfortable things has left Luana broken… and sometimes dangerous.

Meredith Cooney (11) – Lu’s BFF since forever — until Gran died — Meredith is the smart-as-a-whip overachiever that Lu used to be… with about twice the energy and a tendency to talk nonstop, frequently saying whatever’s on her mind. She feels things deeply, often butting heads with her helicopter mom, and is fiercely loyal to Lu — something which makes the cut that much deeper when she thinks Lu is betraying her.
